Enter the rosters independently
You do not need matching rotations or matching start dates. Enter a confirmed day-one date for each person, choose their pattern and select the correct block. Then choose the first month to compare. The comparison covers 12 complete calendar months.
Worked example: two 7/7 rosters
Person A begins a seven-day ON swing on 1 January 2026. Person B begins a seven-day ON swing on 4 January 2026. Their first OFF blocks are 8–14 January and 11–17 January respectively.
| Person | ON dates | OFF dates |
|---|---|---|
| A | 1–7 January | 8–14 January |
| B | 4–10 January | 11–17 January |
| Both OFF | — | 11–14 January: four shared days |
For January–December 2026, this repeating example gives 104 shared OFF days. Each shared break is four days long. The result changes if either anchor is entered as OFF instead of ON.
Read the results
Shared days off totals all dates marked both OFF within the comparison window. Longest break is the longest consecutive shared run inside that window; a break crossing its boundary can be clipped. Next shared break is based on the current date and the displayed comparison window, so an old example may not show its first break as “next.”
The calendar also distinguishes A off, B off and both ON. Use the legend and symbols as well as colour. If there are no shared OFF dates, the planner shows zero and disables the shared ICS export.
Rostered OFF is not necessarily time at home
In the example, both are rostered OFF on 11 January. If Person B spends that date travelling home, the first full day together might be 12 January. If Person A must travel back on 14 January, the practical window could be 12–13 January.
The planner does not subtract flights, transit, training, overtime, leave or delayed crew changes. Check these separately before booking travel or making commitments. Do not alter a confirmed roster anchor simply to hide a travel day: keep the roster accurate and reduce the usable break in your plans.
Share and keep the plan current
Use optional labels carefully: anyone with the shared address can read both rosters. Export shared ICS adds all-day events for the overlap, while Print / PDF produces the comparison overview. Recheck the plan when either employer changes the schedule; neither a downloaded file nor an old shared link receives automatic updates.
